Navy awards BIW $30M for destroyer

The U.S. Navy has awarded Bath Iron Works a nearly $30 million contract modification for work on the next class of destroyers.
The $29.9 million contract modification will allow BIW to continue purchasing construction materials and help fund engineering and support services for the Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyer DDG-1001, according to a press release from U.S. Sen. Susan Collins. BIW is scheduled to build three DDG-1000 class destroyers.
