College’s Corporate and Community Services division provides customized training to expanding Farmington business
AUBURN, ME—Central Maine Community College (CMCC) and the Maine Quality Centers (MQC) Program have partnered with NotifyMD Inc. to provide call center customer service and medical terminology training for up to 30 new employees.
NotifyMD, a Tennessee based medical-messaging call center, is expanding and recently opened a facility in Farmington. The company was awarded an $8,000 grant from MQC, an economic development initiative of the Maine Community College System, to fund the training. Initially 17 newly hired customer care coordinators participated in the 32-hour training program provided by CMCC’s Corporate and Community Services staff. The training took place onsite at NotifyMD’s Front Street facility.
“We are thrilled to be part of the business community in Farmington and have felt very welcomed,” said Jon McDevitt, NotifyMD’s Chief Technology Officer. “Receiving the Maine Quality Centers grant to provide training to our employees is another show of support for our expansion into Maine.”
McDevitt praised the efforts of Maine’s Quality Centers, “Simply put, they did an incredible job. They listened to what we needed, worked with us to develop a training curriculum, and then implemented the curriculum perfectly. As a result, our new Maine employees have a head start, especially compared to our new hires in places where we don’t have this type of program in place.”
Ultimately, NotifyMD hopes to bring a total of more than 100 jobs to the Farmington area.
Jim McGowan, MQC State Director, added “Maine Quality Centers is very pleased to assist CMCC in providing this training to NotifyMD. We join in welcoming NotifyMD to Maine and Franklin County, and we look forward to additional projects in the area that will strengthen our state’s economy.”
The MQC program has helped over 198 companies expand and create a projected 10,724 new jobs generating $1.7 billion in related private investment in Maine. For more information on the program go to http://www.mccs.me.edu/business/mqc.html.
